I’m a mom of three kids that attend Elmbrook Schools. I work part time as a Civil Engineer designing railroad bridges and structures. My husband and I have a manufacturing business in Brookfield where I help him manage the business. I enjoy volunteering my time in our school community.

Educational Background and Work Experience:

I have a BS in Civil Engineering with a focus in structures and transportation from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. I have a Masters of Engineering Management (an “engineer’s MBA”) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am a licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan.

I started my career at Canadian National Railway designing bridges and structures. After a few years in the office, I moved into the field where I worked as a front line supervisor coordinating railroad bridge construction. I directly managed a unionized work force and contractors. I worked with state and local authorities to address permitting issues, landowner disputes, and more generally to improve the relationships with the railroad and its neighbors. I created maintenance plans for the railroad’s infrastructure as well as managed the restoration of rail service to abandoned lines.

When I started my family, I left the railroad to continue a career in railroad bridge design as a consultant. I started my own DBE certified design firm, which supported my family as my husband grew his manufacturing business. Now I work remotely part-time for a civil engineering firm and part-time managing my family’s manufacturing business.

My husband and I purchased a commercial property in Brookfield where we operate our business. For our manufacturing business, I am responsible for human resources, payroll, benefits, bookkeeping, banking, insurance, purchasing, receivables/payables, contracts, strategy, and more.
